Well, one way or another I will fix my B2 amp. I think while I have no bass amp it would be a good idea to try other amps for ULF: powerful tube amps or even class D amps. I do not have inspiration to dry Class D amps and I have no powerful tube amp...
The only advantage your pilot could have over Macondo is omnidirectionality...
It might be a good idea under some circumstances but not truly necessary in my case. The way how the room our listening/living room is org...
That is correct, my present setup doesn't speak much under 40Hz, or so. And, they are not very directional down there... But, I am working towards a gradual transition, and I might even get halfway there, one day...... [/quot...
Xandcg, I did not see this thread below. I would not comment
on 5x10x14 vs. 4x8x12 rooms, the answer is obvious,
What I will comment that the scenario you propose is very close to ultimate configuration
for Macondo-like acoustic system. A f...

There are a few moments I am working with now. One is the notorious “viola dryness” – the concept that I am staggering for years. Another thing is that my room each some dynamics of my Macondo – something that my old room did not do. OK it is given t...

Some Hypex-type sub amps with ULF X/Os have high level inputs. Maybe this is a way to feed the thing from your DSET, if this is a goal for you? I think most of this type X/O and amp combination have an input buffer, and most of them have 180/variab...

Since my left channel along with midbass horn is more or less configured I made today a first rest of the full assembly - with LF section. The midbass does somewhere hear 40Hz and I set the LF section for 34Hz, drove it from B2 via the SMS crossover....
|
From the time of the insertion and setting the proper crossover my midbass is growing and growing, getting larger, deeper and better in all aspects. I am not kidding and now, when I have no ULF channels operational, it is very obvious. I can’t explai...

Guys, I am not looking or care about the design specifics but rather looking for some fresh idea and inspirations that would make me to think further. You see, if I shut down Macondo and measure just ULF channels then I have just little bump at minus...
There is a fusion in contemporary turntables: to make platters and tonearm bases separated. I am not an expert but in my ignorant common sense I do not think I like it. For instants take a look at a German table:http://www....
In the Christmas Spirit, a couple of notes in passing:1) These units might need a LOT of power to make ULF in those cases...B) "Conventions in Vegas" re: pro speakers = "Little Old Lady From Pasadena" re: used cars.
What...

As we are looking for our new home I am slowly simmering in
my mind the ideas about new midbass horns. It is not that I am short for ideas
but I am not sure that I will take my family on a bumpy and costly ride to build
new horns. One way or anoth...
Actually it is not about the “3D quality of silent passages” but about the silence being the PROPER continuation of the non-silent passages. I think I have cracked this one and thinking about it more I believe I have an ans...

It did not last long….
Just a couple days back I was thinking that I will live with my current lower bass for a while and now I feel that I will not. I do not feel that my current ULF is wrong. In fact I feel that it is truly superb but I wou...
Unlike transmission line reflections which are a REAL effects, torsion gravity has beena nice theoretical concept, existing on paper, but not a proven reality, mind you. This is a huge difference and I guess you are one of tho...

Well, in my formers listening
room I had music ran by horns and I had two line array with 12 driver driven by
SS aps to pump room with 20Hz low pass filter. Do not forgets that the filter
was sitting on transition slope and it was 0dB at 20Hz and ...

I got today RTA and decided to play with the midbass location
a bit. As I expected it is very hard as whatever I moved the things the problem
still there. Then rather to annoy myself
I position the speakers where they use to be but turned them 90...

Was cruising the web, looking for a pic of the back of a B-2 (for various reasons) and saw a pic of Romy and had to check it out. Hope he is well and healthy.

Beautiful racks, N-set! They actually look like grown-up versions of my Target racks. Are you amazed that they yet vibrate when struck? God only knows what it takes to become totally inert, and - of course - eventually - everything moves at some ...

Hi Greg, linkSearch the site and you'll find that Ulf has created a upper bass horn using the aforementioned TAD 1201's.I also own a pair still in boxes waiting for the weather to warm up enough for me to start some enclosures and horns for.My origina...

Interesting, Ulf.
If your horn runs up-to 500-700Hz (somewhere like mine) then what kind “beaming” you meant? Frankly speaking I did not detect any beaming at those frequencies, quite in contrary – it is very difficult to make anything to beam at un...

Paul, I'm not rushing to the breadboard. I'm trying to visualize if Romy's constraintscan be satisfied. I have to gather more data on GU81 to think of doing anything. How linear it is?? Perhaps this tube is an audio no-go as you've mentioned?Going to ...

Against long odds, I got another chance to do some more careful listening yesterday. On a hunch, I put the Fluke on the ML2s, and, sure enough, the left channel had drifted up to 340mA and the right had moved up to 300mA. Once I dialed the oper...

A possible solution for tuning your floor. If you were commited to it it would not be expensive to implement it. Probebrly run it with oil. The piston and bore set up could be about 100mm diameter and about the same high. The whole set up could sit on...

I guess it’s time to talk about these amps in terms of The
Loudspeakers. In truth, I thought of these amps from the first time I thought
about The Loudspeakers, to the point where I “built and tested” The
Loudspeakers with these amps in my hea...

N-set, you may remember that from the beginning I encouraged you to try a wall mount, for all the reasons you have just cited, and this approach seems even more obvious if the walls are concrete/masonry vs. floor joists and sheet subflooring, not to ...

I had a good listening session this Sunday. The Tchaikovsky
5 and Mahler 3rd. I shut down my ULF and was listening just with the
rest of the system. I was thinking what the hell I can do with lower knee of my
midbass. I absolutely adore what Vitav...

oi Romy ,Since you added a new parameter in audio play back called : Decor I'm afraid, it may make it far too hard.anyhow can I see 360 degree view of your room (video) ? I am afraid you are in wrong shape of set up in first placeFor instance from...

The baby grand piano that Amy brought with herself in my life is kind of making me want to experiment with it. The piano is from Amy grandmother’s youth and it is probably from 30s. It is not bad piano, I have seen much worse, but it is not Steinway ...
